About

Welcome friend!

Connection is what we're here for. We are not meant to live this life alone. When we read others' stories, and share our own, we grow stronger, we connect with our fellow travelers on this mortal journey, and we are strengthened.

About the Blog:

These circles encompass the philosophy of Sacred Sprinkles. Every blog post is connected to one or more of these circles.

God. God is the innermost circle because God knows us intimately and is closer than our own breath. God is the power that gives us life. God is the outermost circle because God, the almighty and omnipotent creator and sustainer of the universe, encircles and upholds everything. God is the thread that weaves through all levels of existence; God is sprinkled everywhere. These other circles matter because of our faith in God: we care for ourselves because we are the beloved of God. We care for our neighbor because they are children of God, too. We care for our world because God created humans and told them to have dominion over the earth. Sacred Sprinkles aims to increase faith in God and help believers become disciples who produce good fruit. Posts on scripture study, spiritual disciplines, church history, spiritual application of pop culture, and more help build your faith and your children’s faith. (Click below to read)

Self. Sacred Sprinkles aims to improve relationship with self by encouraging care for our own mental and physical health. Blog posts addressing this category might include healthy recipes, mental health recovery stories or tips, encouragement of lifelong learning for you and your children, and personal experiences.
When You Don't Meet Your Own Expectations

Neighbor. We are commanded to love others, and we cannot survive alone. Cultivating strong relationships with those around us (family, friends, community members, people we know, see, and touch) benefits both us and them. We need each other. Sacred Sprinkles aims to improve relationships with others by helping you and your children develop Christlike character and kindness, engage in wholesome recreation, and serve one another.

World. As with neighbor, we have a symbiotic relationship with our world at large, including the physical planet and the people we don’t have direct relationships with. That’s why Sacred Sprinkles cares about social justice, systemic racism, climate change, renewable resources and low waste, cultural awareness, and more.

About the Author:

I am:

  • a Mormon convert. I was baptized in March of 2015 (read about it here and here!) I can say with confidence that it was the best decision I've ever made.  I've started this blog, to record thoughts of my journey through life, to connect, and to have an outlet to share my story with others.
  • a graduate student, pursuing a Master's degree in Religious Studies.
  • a dancer - ballet, tap, jazz, modern, contemporary - you name it, I've probably tried it.
  • a reader. I read a LOT (and sometimes report about the best things I'm reading lately)
  • curious. I love learning new things about people and learning how the world works and learning new skills.
  • not confined to one religious tradition. I learn about God wherever God choses to teach me. Read here for more about that.
I know that right now God is preparing me for my future. I don't know what my future entails, but God does. And with God's help, I know I'll make it through. And so will you.
